Dear 21-year-old me

One day, you will realize that
being surrounded by people
doesn’t cure loneliness.
Time spent with friends
who leave after last call
is the same as staying home.

One day, you will realize that
your parents project their issues
(with their parents) onto you.
Your siblings will be
the only people to
understand completely.

One day, you will realize that
not caring doesn’t make you strong
and being vulnerable is courageous.
Boys never made an impression
because it takes
a man to do so.

One day, you will realize that
piecing together the nights before
(the memories of which were
obliterated by tequila shots)
isn’t as fun when
you’re too old for that shit.
