a city girl’s lullaby

streets bustling until dusk
(occasional) police sirens
skyscrapers dwarfing duplexes
neighbors blasting music —
the cacophonous melody of
a city girl’s lullaby.
small towns are too tranquil
& dimly lit country roads
are terrifying at nightfall.

  1. I love how vividly you describe both the big city and the small town. And what an interesting way to view the big city as the safe haven, and finding country roads frightening. Fantastic poem, Samantha! One of my favorites of yours so far. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thanks so much, Miranda! ๐Ÿ˜€ It may sound strange, but even if cities may seem more sinister, I get more nervous driving through dark & quiet country roads. This is probably due to watching too many horror movies, lol!
